ARA Wealth Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 March 2026
These terms explain how ARA Wealth works, what responsibilities you have as a user, and clarify the nature of the services we provide.
By using ARA Wealth, you agree to these terms. If you have questions, please contact us before using the platform.
1. Overview of ARA Wealth
ARA Wealth is a financial planning and financial clarity platform designed for households.
The platform helps households:
- track income and understand when money arrives
- organise spending into meaningful categories
- plan how to allocate income before spending occurs
- forecast cash flow across weeks and months
- build savings buffers and emergency funds
- review finances together through a regular process called Review & Reset
ARA Wealth is designed to bring clarity and calm to household finances by helping families understand how money moves through their lives.
2. No Financial Services
It is important to understand what ARA Wealth does not do.
ARA Wealth:
- does not hold money
- does not provide banking services
- does not initiate payments
- does not move funds
ARA Wealth is a financial organisation and planning tool. It helps you understand your finances but does not control or access your money directly.
3. Open Banking Connections
ARA Wealth allows users to connect their bank accounts to automatically retrieve financial data.
Bank connections are provided through Akahu, a New Zealand open banking provider. When you connect a bank account:
- you authenticate directly with your bank through Akahu
- ARA Wealth receives read-only access to your financial data
- ARA Wealth cannot move money or initiate transactions
Bank connections are entirely optional. You can use ARA Wealth by entering financial information manually if you prefer not to connect your bank.
You can disconnect your bank at any time. When disconnected, ARA Wealth will stop retrieving new data from that account.
4. User Responsibilities
As a user of ARA Wealth, you are responsible for:
Keeping your login credentials secure
Your ARA Wealth account password should be unique and not shared with others. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Ensuring information entered is accurate
If you enter financial information manually, you are responsible for ensuring it is accurate. ARA Wealth's insights and planning tools depend on the quality of the data provided.
Using the platform appropriately
You agree not to misuse the platform, attempt to access other users' data, or use ARA Wealth for any illegal purpose.
About authentication
ARA Wealth uses secure session-based authentication and optional Google OAuth login. Because the Akahu integration provides read-only access to financial account data and does not allow ARA Wealth to initiate payments or move funds, the platform follows Akahu's authentication guidance for read-only applications. ARA Wealth will implement additional authentication controls, including multi-factor authentication, if required as part of the accreditation process.
5. Platform Availability
ARA Wealth is provided as an online service that we continuously develop and improve.
From time to time, we may:
- update the platform to add new features or improve existing ones
- perform maintenance that may temporarily affect availability
- modify or retire features that are no longer serving users well
We aim to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We will endeavour to notify users in advance of significant planned changes or maintenance.
6. Limitation of Liability
ARA Wealth provides financial insights and organisational tools to help households understand their finances.
ARA Wealth does not provide financial advice.
The information, insights, and tools provided by ARA Wealth are for informational and organisational purposes only. They should not be considered professional financial, tax, or legal advice.
You are responsible for your own financial decisions. If you require professional financial advice, please consult a qualified financial adviser.
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, ARA Wealth is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
7. Termination of Accounts
You may close your ARA Wealth account at any time.
When you close your account:
- your access to the platform will be revoked
- any connected bank accounts will be disconnected
- your personal information will be handled according to our Privacy Notice
ARA Wealth may also terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms or engage in behaviour that harms other users or the platform.
8. Changes to Terms
These terms may evolve as ARA Wealth develops.
If we make significant changes to these terms, we will notify users through the platform or by email.
Continued use of ARA Wealth after changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
